About Us

The Beginning

The Circle came into being in 1998 being influenced by the Andean Circle of Poets in Venezuela. Founding members toured South America and were invited to attend the "IV Encuentro of Poets" in the region held in Cabimas, Lake Maracaibo.  The initial focus was to be a catalyst in awakening the Trinidad and Tobago to the importance and psychological usefulness of poetic expression. The Circle of Poets of Trinidad and Tobago was formed upon return from the  IV Encuentro of Poets and was later incorporated as a Non-Profit organisation in 2003.
